Gaspar Sanz released their latest single Meanderthal on Friday March 29th, marking the beginning of what is to be an exciting and defining year for the quartet.
Meanderthal delivers the band’s 80s and 90s influenced sound in its most refined form yet, drawing influence from the likes of The Strokes, The Hives, and The Kinks.
“Everyone has their own version of reality within themselves,” says Jimmy Bell. “This song is about trying to better understand what another person may be experiencing, and then trying to process it within your own reality. Ultimately it's about the dualistic nature of empathy and confusion.”
In 2017 Gaspar Sanz released their self-title Debut EP. The tracks, On my Way and Watch You Go saw praise and spins from both Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, landing the band an Artist Spotlight and later a Feature Artist slot. During this time, Gaspar Sanz played sold out shows around Sydney with such acts as Philadelphia Grand Jury and The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
In 2018, the band followed up the EP release with the songs, I Swim and Scene Of The Crime. I Swim earned #1 on the indie charts and #3 on the overall charts at Triple J Unearthed for three consecutive weeks.
